NOTES TO SELF

1. There are setups every day
2. Watch Twitter intraday for Breakouts from reliable inputs.
3. Triangle Breakouts on above the trendline + vol.
4. Daytrading breakouts on 0.01 above the day high + vol.
5. Swing decisions only on EOD data.
6. On entries confirm by submitting to others for charting.
7. Don't by at open without a limit order
8. Cut bad trades as soon as they move against you.
9. Exit day trades on huge volume spike @ doji except when goes parabolic IE SNSS then exit @ low of previous bar on 5 min.
10. Even on fades in vol better to exit/take profits and find another play IE CENX to SNSS.
11. Look to enter positions based upon pre market volume if they are up on the breakout plays, used for narrowing results. This does not apply to AMEX as NEP gapped up and ran on a breakout and had no morning volume. Still set limit at just above previous day's high.
12. Look for red to green on High Day Rangers or green to red for short. SNSS Excellent example went green on the open and 30-40 min later went red to green for a follow through in a parabolic top.
13. Scans I like the most:
  • 8% gainers, cherry pick adr 30 look for pre market vol and slight gap up or red to green and at resistance
  • 15% gainers over 2 days (short) look for green to red NLST great example
  • Red outside upper bollingerband look for gap down next day on premarket vol.
  • Standard breakout scan w/ premarket vol.
  • High ADR general scan (supplemental)
14. On breakouts I am only looking at 2 days (1 day of breakout and 1 day of follow through) if its not up big after 2 days I am exiting @ open because then it wasn't a breakout. And there are plenty of other opportunities.
15. Breakouts are also best from a really consolidated base NLST, SNSS, GGR etc. bounce plays are much harder to pick because dont know if continuation will occur.
16. Bounce plays cause short covering rallies and only if it breaks the trendline/reaches capitualtion.

Market Preparation for SP-500 Dec. 14, 2009:

Possible Scenario: Neutral Channel
The most awesome plays for tomorrow are short... unless SNSS, CYCC, and NEP keep running seems counter intuitive to me.

Market Preparation for SP-500 Dec. 10, 2009:

Possible Scenario: Neutral Channel expect flat or gap up to stay in the upper neutral channel a gap down below the channel would lead lower. Mostly confusing read the tape. Now even more confusing. Huge indecision at this stage of the market combined with lack of volume its choppy out there.

Updates will be based upon weekly predictions with this week scoring a 1 out of 5 as today was the same as 2 days ago really confusing with gap down = down farther and I didn't predict anything of value except I "should have taken profits" shoulda, woulda, coulda.

My expectations for the SP-500 are based upon the current up movement in a neutral range.

Rounding of the top and huge indecision at this stage of the market combined with lack of volume its choppy out there.

More Notes to Self

NOTE TO SELF:
1. How Important is Winning to You?
2. Are you going to stick to your game plan?
3. Are your entry and exit strategies clearly defined and followed?
4. Are you doing your due diligence and staying in front of the screen?
5. When the Market is Choppy/Neutral are you taking your profits earlier & in smaller pieces?
6. Daytrade exit with Market Orders unless you are setting your profit target (2% choppy 10% breakout)
7. You have to know coming into a trade if you are in Daytrading rules or Swing Trading Rules.
8. And if Swing trading don't react to emotion!!! Stick to the Rules! (Case in Point PSS Entry @ 22.09 excellent entry yesterday looking for a decent breakout gain and freaked out and sold @ 22.10 for breakeven.)
9. The speed of the tape tells you which direction the market is moving especially later in the day.
10. Only go Long if the Market is in your favor.

NOTES TO SELF

NOTES TO SELF:

1. If You Get Nervous Get Out! Only Want Clean Breakaways!
2. No way to read tape early in morning only charts and have xls with price points for quick entry to observe which watch lists have entries.
3. For 8% gainers the watch is the 1st point higher than yesterday's high
4. Organize the Lists into sections (Breakouts, 8%, Twitters, Bollinger etc.)
5. 5 Min Mountain Volume if near high Vol with Doji --> GTFO for day trading.
6. Always use limit orders! unless Vol is huge.

More Random Thoughts from SF

"IT'S NOT WHAT YOU TRADE, IT'S HOW YOU TRADE IT"

Simplest way to trade RFR stocks is to use Muddy's WAIT FOR GREEN entry strategy.

You can also use my RFR TRAVEL GUIDE to see where the drop should hit and where the bounce should be.

You can also use part of my BLACK BELT TRADING STRATEGY... if the previous day's close crosses and closes above the ema(5), you should be clear for takeoff.

That should be enough to get you started.

Random Thoughts StockFetcher.

NOTE TO SELF: Doing a lot of research on StockFetcher and thinking that for 401k trading the RFR for Weekly Setups would be ideal.
http://forums.stockfetcher.com/sfforums/?q=view&tid=56077&start=300 // Weekly Swing
And for Day Trading/Swing:
http://forums.stockfetcher.com/sfforums/?q=view&tid=56077&start=20 // RUN FOREST RUN 1 day 8%
And for Breakout Scans:
http://forums.stockfetcher.com/sfforums/?q=view&tid=32303&start=0 // Raw Breakout

NOTE TO SELF: Three Steps
1. Find stocks that fit the RFR
2. Specify Entry Criteria: IE RSI(2) low, Pop OverDue 5days etc.
3. Specify Entry Price: IE 1st Green Bar on 30 Min and if not at open then set entry at day's high or using TRAVEL GUIDE.

Quote from TRO and SF People FYI For Future.
"What's your method for zeroing in on the three stocks you mentioned (RND, ABK, and PMI) from the Run Forest Run filter? And, what's your exit strategy that you use for stopping losses and protecting profits?
-----------------------------------------------

I just look at the ones on top.

I look at the volume... don't like thinly traded stocks.

That's all there is. The filter does the work of selecting.

Now, trading... I use the TRAVEL GUIDE.

I like to trade the drop/bounce... I will wait for a drop to the drop target... that's the get ready. I use 30 minute candles... I WAIT FOR GREEN and then enter 1/2 the position. If it goes against me then I can average down and trade my way out. Just ask Chip... we chat on yahoo almost everyday during the market.

I don't use stops. I trade my way out.

I also will buy 1/2 position in the last hour of the day to see if I can catch the pop the next day. If they drop it, I'll add the other 1/2 position and catch the bounce and usually be able to exit with a profit ( sometimes I exit too soon like last week!) "

People ask how do I select what stocks to trade.

One way is to find the RFR stocks that have been beaten down.

RSI(2) below 5 does that.

Back test all you want but it's HOW YOU TRADE THEM that matters!!

1. Timing is everything. I use 30 minute candles. Don't go long if candle is RED.

GREEN - number of days out of last 100 where stock closed above open

B = BOUNCE ( low to close )

D = DROP ( open to low )

R = RUN ( open to high )

P = PULLBACK ( high to close )

Reporting the distance the price travelled as a percentage of the open price.

How to trade using the TRAVEL information?

Think about it...

Market opens, stock starts to move up and you enter...

Price reaches average RUN, time to sell part of your position to lock in profit.

Price stalls and you exit the rest.

Price now drops below open to the average drop, you enter part of your position because price stalls.

Price drops more, stops and reverses, you can enter the rest of your position or wait.

Price bounces back to average bounce. You exit again.

Two trades, both profitable, more than 2% gains.

Do this every day and YOU'RE RICH!

"As I was taught to do, I run the 8% up and 8% down filter every night, the high dayranger list every weekend, former runners I have learned (especially the lower float ones) I wait for green on these, hitting new high of day list, look at their volume and decide quickly whether to enter them or not.
These filters imo will be a great source for afterhours and premarket "news" stocks. If one high on the "runners" filter list is only up a few % before the open and I know it has run big in the past a few times this again will give me an edge I believe.

These filters I can study for the risk/reward potential and that is always my main goal along with an EDGE.""

WTF is the Muddy Zone?

Market Preparation for SP-500 Nov. 18, 2009:

Possible Scenario: No Overhead Resistance so realistically it could go on forever, however it could be the top of a 5 wave with an ABC correction down. Gap up = higher Gap Down = Lower, otherwise another Doji.

Market Preparation for SP-500 Nov. 11, 2009:
Possible Scenario: Hitting resistance @ 1093 Way Overbought and still expecting a backlash to 1088 so mostly a Doji.

Wrong again, learning to just read the tape vs go beyond to what I want. Need to eliminate my bias towards the market. I missed the gap up which caused a huge upward push. So now I'm 4.5 out of 7.

My expectations for the SP-500 are based upon the current rebound up outside of the channel.

Market Preparation for SP-500 Nov. 9, 2009:
Possible Scenario: Resistance @ ~ 1071 if it breaks down I would expect lower channel to get hit. But if this is forming the top of the R Shoulder I would expect indecision much like the L Shoulder.

Missed the correct prediction as the day did go to 1071 as the high but not on a gap up rather on a gap down... So we'll call it partly right with 4.25 out of 5. I figure good prediction is ~ 70%, any better is curve fitting and not a prediction from my system trading.

My expectations for the SP-500 are based upon the current rebound in the channel.

Breakouts: $GGR, $AHT, $ADPT, $MOT (Set Order just above High resistance)
Previous Potential Breakouts (Looking back 5 days): $SVM (Waiting), $EXK (Waiting) , $HYC (Abandoned), $CLZR (Look to exit breakeven), $ERES (Breakdown), $TSYS (Waiting), $GSS (Look to exit even), $CTDC (Still Imminent)

Breakdowns: $LEAP, $MENT, $MFC, $TRMK. (Set Order just below Low resistance)

Dip Picks: N/A
Previous Potential Dips (Looking back 5 days): Broke Even with all Plays

Rip Picks: $TUES,
Previous Potential Dips (Looking back 5 days): N/A

Top Pick: Hedge although my top pick has been wrong a bunch lately. (Look for gap downs or gap ups beyond resistance)

Top Missing Piece: R Shoulder Coming???

Good Luck,

Market Preparation for Nov. 6, 2009

Market Preparation for SP-500 Nov. 6, 2009:
Possible Scenario: Right on upper trendline, if we gap up I'd expect more strength to the end of the C wave at ~ 1071. In flat or gap down I would expect consolidation forming the top of the Right Shoulder.

BAMM! Another good prediction as yesterdays prediction to 1068 was missed by ~ < 2 pts by the end of the day. (That is 4 for 4! I've got to get one wrong here sometime.)

My expectations for the SP-500 are based upon the current rebound in the channel.

Breakouts: $SVM, $EXK, $HYC, $CLZR, (Set Order just above High resistance)
Previous Potential Breakouts (Looking back 5 days): $ERES (Waiting), $TSYS (Waiting), $GSS (Waiting), $CTDC (Imminent)

Breakdowns: 80 picks not going to list them all. (Set Order just below Low resistance)

Dip Picks: N/A
Previous Potential Dips (Looking back 5 days): Broke Even with all Plays

Rip Picks: N/A

Top Pick: Breakdowns (Look for gap downs or gap ups beyond resistance)

Top Missing Piece: R Shoulder Coming???

Good Luck,

Tyler

Wednesday, November 4, 2009

Market Preparation for SP-500 Nov. 5, 2009:
Possible Scenario: Right on lower trendline, if we gap down I'd expect consolidation. In the event of a strong upward move I would expect the top of the C wave to end near 1068 tomorrow. In the event of a weaker upward move I would expect more continuation in the upward channel.

BAMM! Another good prediction as yesterdays Imminent Move on Breakout lead to more breakout... but once again my crystal ball only worked until mid day as the WTF pattern showed up at the end of the day.

My expectations for the SP-500 are based upon the current rebound in the channel.

Breakouts: $ERES, $TSYS, $GSS (Set Order just above High resistance)
Previous Potential Breakouts (Looking back 5 days): $AHC (Took Profit), $CTDC (Waiting)

Breakdowns: $INTC, $CMVT, $PNSN, $COCO. (Set Order just below Low resistance)

Dip Picks: $RAME? (Look for Gap up Tomorrow)
Previous Potential Dips (Looking back 5 days): $IO (Setup was correct but look to exit break even), $CNOA (Not Confimed), $CVO (Look to exit breakeven)

Rip Picks: N/A

Top Pick: Hedge $ERES and $INTC on confirmation. (Look for gap downs or gap ups beyond resistance)

Top Missing Piece: R Shoulder Coming???

Update from yesterday two bad entries on the Dips look to break even on them.

Good Luck,

Tyler

Tuesday, November 3, 2009

Market Preparation Wed Nov. 4th, 2009

Market Preparation for SP-500 Nov. 4, 2009:
Possible Scenario: Imminent move tomorrow, mostly consolidation today still could be forming a new A wave for a recovery ABC pattern and at least form a top H&S over the next few days. Also if we Gap above 1050 then I would expect continuation, however if we remain flat or gap down I would expect more consolidation/downside movement although that would be strange with how far down we have come already.

BAMM! Another good prediction as yesterdays no strong prediction tends to be indecision within the market equaling the doji today.

My expectations for the SP-500 are based upon the current down channel.

Mixed Reviews for all setups leaning towards a bounce for R Shoulder.

Breakouts: $AHC (Brokeout) , $CTDC (Set Order just above High resistance)

Breakdowns: WOW 56 Picks I'm not listing them all but could be a bounce as they are not taking out their lows. (Set Order just below Low resistance)

Dip Picks: $IO, $CNOA, $CVO (Look for Gap up Tomorrow)

Rip Picks: N/A

Top Pick: Hedge or Stay in Cash. (Look for gap downs or gap ups bey)

Top Missing Piece: R Shoulder will it come???

Update from yesterday the Short banks would be on a breakdown not a Gap down (Learning)

Good Luck,

Tyler

Market Preparation Nov 3, 2009

Market Preparation for SP-500 Monday Nov. 3, 2009:
Possible Scenario: No Strong Predictions looks like it could be the down spot of a 5 wave with a potential ABC back up? This would at least form a top H&S over the next few days. Although with massive breakdowns everywhere it could just crash.

BAMM! What a prediction yesterday... 1050 nearly exactly followed by a break down, of course there was that end of day rally but that was beyond my crystal ball.

My expectations for the SP-500 are based upon the current down channel.

My Scan for Stocks are almost all showing breakdowns with a limited set of weak breakouts. few of my bounce scans are registering any picks.

Breakouts: $AHC, $EPIC, $GY

Breakdowns: WOW 178 Picks I'm not listing them all but expecting massive breakdown on any gap down.

Dip Picks: $JADE, $SCIL (Look for Gap up Tomorrow)

Rip Picks: N/A

Top Pick: Short the Banks or Stay in Cash.

Top Missing Piece: Capitulation.... When will it come???

Good Luck,

Tyler

Market Preparation for SP-500 Monday Nov. 2, 2009:
Possible Scenario: Rally to 1050 followed with a breakdown.

Well I figured its time to start documenting my trades for my own reference and accounting. And hey if some leeches start taking some picks well all the better then. I was a leech for a long time while learning the ropes.

My expectations for the SP-500 are based upon the current down channel.

My Scan for Stocks are almost all showing breakdowns with a limited set of weak breakouts. None of my bounce scans are registering any picks.

Breakouts: $BONT
